got a KB in bad shape

ok so a week ago i agreed to make a trade with someone for a 7" KB female
well i got the spider today and to my dismay it was barely 6" and lived in a delicup for the last year
if that wasnt enough there was a small colony of ants in there with her
so i got her out of that delicup and got rid of the ants(luckily none were on her) , she showed no signs of agression at all, and barely moved
i got a look at her abdomen and i swear it looks like she hasnt eaten in months
so i have this dehydrated starved T on my hands here and im supposed to trade for it..?
so i decided ya know what NO and after an hour long discussion i took the KB and the sling i was supposed to trade and walked out..
i set her up in a large sterilite with tons of pean and water
and shes been drinking like crazy
shes begining to be more active, and i heard her stridulate , so im pretty hopeful
she hasnt eaten yet but ill do my best to change that

Yeah her abdomen should be plump. Substrate should be DEEP. let her burrow as it'll make her less stressed and probably coax her into feeding. Jack up the humidity. Her drinking is a good sign. My large female is in a 28 gal bow front with 7 inches of substrate she has made an elaborate tunnel system. I'd take pics of her but she is a pet hole. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

she has 18" to dig in
she hasnt burrowed yet but im hopeful that she will
i already raised the humidity and ive given her 2 water bowls
im not to worried about her not eating just yet as long as shes drinking

Agree.

it amazes me how people can do this.....

kudos to you for your care....just keep her water bowl topped up,
and as everyone else has said nice deep substrate, with a starter burrow,
she will soon plump up and you will have a wonderful looking spider.
