| So, apparently, the G. Rosea is now named the Grammostola Porteri, and the RCF Rosea is now the true G. Rosea.
I for one... do not like it. lol, im not a fan of change.

| Now, I can't find any proven info on this yet... but I have read on multiple forums about the change. | |

| If you click this link, and scroll down to the grammostolas, then you'll see that they have the common rose hair labled as the G. Porteri, and the G. Rosea is the chilean rose-red. | |

i think it's good though, i never understood why a brown tarantula would be called a "rose" hair..

| I think renaming it, would cause mass confusion. | |

if it works why fiddle with it!!! Because people can't leave well enough alone and always have to mess with things and screw them up

Fernando Perez-Miles has a paper in prep i believe. Someone who knows a lot more about South American tarantulas than all the forum 'experts' combined. - Bird Man wrote:

Obviously not. How many people do you know that have compared what is going around the hobby as G. rosea ncf to the type specimen? - Akasha wrote:

if it works why fiddle with it!!! Because it may well be wrong. Should we all still believe the earth is flat then? - Bird Man wrote:

How exactly is it being screwed up? It makes me laugh when people moan about how Avics, Grammys, Pamphos etc are in a mess yet whenever someone sorts out any of it people start crying like a little girl with a skinned knee because they have to go and change a label on some of their spiders tanks. As it stands there has been nothing official published on the change and perhaps it may never happen but if it does then you should be happy that we are a step closer to knowing what exactly we have in the hobby.

| Jimmy: most of us are not concerned with the correct taxonomy and a bit arrogant when it comes to change!
we know the change is for the best, but is not a fun change!

| If they change the name, then ALL information on them that has been written will be wrong. All internet pages, all books. They will all be talking about the wrong spider. | |

| the info wouldn't change or be wrong, just the name would be wrong. they still come from the same place and require the same care. | |
