hello all. new critter ???HELP???

well i wanted to see what a tarantula is like so i bought one. i have no idea how to take care of it.. i have it in a tubbaware containter and a wet paper towel. it has red on his legs. not sure what kind it is. HELP????????????

Sounds like a brachypelma smithi, boehmei, or auratum. The tubber ware container is fine if it is big enough. Pics would help ID. You need to change the bedding to peat or eco earth/bed a beast. If it is one of the above species it shouldn't be kept to wet. Just add a water dish. You should also add a hide. Oh yea place some air holes in the container. It will eat crickets or other similiar bugs. Here is a link to a page with great care info on tarantulas. if it is indeed a smithi, I keep mine in a 12 x 8 x 8 enclosure with eco earth half a plant pot, and a water bowl, nice and dry, or the tarantula with climb the walls,

you can feed every 3-4 day with a cricket, if it ignores it, then be sure to take it out again as it will stress your spider out, or go mouldy in the tank and that will cause mould which can cause more problems

if at any point you find your spider on its back, you must leave it, it is going to molt,
at this point all it needs is water and peace and quiet,

so all that leaves me to say is Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new Tarantula

put it on eco earth
give it a small water dish

there is loads of info on the net about every species

WOW i'm jealous mexi red knees are beautifullll. NEVER EVER FOR EVER NEVER EVER..LOL...Just don't buy out of nowhere. Atleast take a day or two to get the cage set up and etc. Then do some research and you'll be set to go. the wrong cage could put it under alot of stress
