i looked in on my g.rosea this evening and found him in the corner half-way in a dugout he had made and he was literally bottoms up------all i could see were his back legs holding onto the edges of the hole and his bottom that was sticking straight up in the air--------- after observing i found that he was waiting patiently for a roach nymph that was buried in the peat to move closer to him-------as soon as it got close enough he dug like a dog and caught it.

T's are incredible. Smile

I found that most tarantulas will scavange for food and digging it up is part of that. It is pretty cool when they do it.

I've had that happen a couple times, I always squish the head of the roaches, but I guess some not as good as others, since they are still alive weeks later and I notice that a T I haven't fed yet is already feeding on a roach. The roaches amaze me how much of a beating they can take and keep on going, being with a rosea means a dry climate, and the roaches are from more humid, they must keep near the water dishes. I've even had a roach who's head I squished, put it in with the T, who didn't take it right away, and the roach molted with in 15 minutes of having it's head squished. Then the T decided to eat it after it molted lol.

I watched my GBB sling do a flying leap off the side of enclosure onto a cricket. It was so funny.

My T's won't eat while I'm in the room, even though I watch them for hours after I feed them, then I leave the room for 2 minutes and ALLLL of them are eating.
Haha.

Maybe your feeding too often? Mine always grab anything I give them, unless they are in premolt. Some of my blue fangs and one of my female OBT will take it out of my tweezers.

BTW anyone seen/heard from Dawn?

That's common for a rosea, my gravid femalw usually never refuses, then she stopped for two weeks and when I offered last night, she accepted.
