I'VE GOT A SAC!!!

Unfortunately is isn't from my female OBT. Found this girl looking quite gravid to me a couple days ago so I just had to snatch her up, Second one I have of this species, the first one I thought was gravid too, but she molted, and I've been looking for a MM for her for awhile now with no luck.


Here are the quick pictures I took, didn't wanna disturb her too much with a fresh sac, which looks like a big pearl. Let me know if your interested in some slings.

What is that thing? lol

It's a wolf spider, not sure on the species though.

I found her in my yard, along with the other one while back. They are pretty common around here. Once the sac hatches they will ride around on moms abdomen for a bit, hope there aren't too many though, look at how small her abdomen is now after the sac, it was all eggs, was 3X bigger last night.

So how big is she compared to a Quarter?

bout 2" LS maybe.

Congrats though those kind of spiders creep me out. I'll still to the larger ones.

Yeah they are a bit creepy, and fast too. The first one I got wasn't able to climb the plastic sides so I was like cool beans because it would flip out when I opened the lid for any reason, then it molted and hangs out on the side of the enclosure all day long.

Congrats! I love wolfies. Had a gravid one a while back, the egg hatched but only one came out. He lived, but the mom died a couple months after that. Maybe she was old. Nice spider! Hope the babies are healthy (:

Yeah that one is real pretty, the other one is much lighter then her.

Turned out she was full a mites, the wonders of being WC, and the mites killed the sac, they were swarming all over it, and she dropped it, idk how long because I left her alone for the most part, being only captured a few days before she laid her sac. But by the time I noticed it was too late, I then felt really bad for her and released her. The other female who I've had for 3-4 months, molted instead of dropping a sac, and I noticed 3-4 days ago, she dropped a sac, and hasn't been with a man since her molt.

I wasn't aware this was possible either. Atleast I know it's not for T's, could be different for spiders I guess. Very interesting! Let us know if the sac hatches

Well I haven't checked on her in a couple days now. but I did think t's could make sac's without being bred, I sent out a mm a avic and the female made a phantom sac before i even sent the male out

yes I had heard that they could make phantom sacs,

perhaps the avic was a femanist lol saying she didnt need a MM to make a sac

Well the last update I got was that the female wasn't doing her part and running from the male, they are co-habing as of the last update I got.

Wow, sorry to hear about they sac. hopefully this one will be good.

Well I just don't see that happening. She molted in my care, and she was never paired with a male after the molt, She's still holding onto the sac though.
