PostSubject: BP Success   Sat 11 Jul 2009, 7:17 am

Well I haven't had my little BP for too long now, and she was only ever fed live mice, and she's at least 20" hard to get a good measurement, since she doesn't seem to know she's a BALL python and she is always on the go. The only time I See her kinda balled up is when she is in her hide and I take it out to play with her, or feed her lol. Her first couple meals with me, she was fed mice, since I wasn't able to get any rats at the time. Both were eaten live. Then her third meal was supposed to be a f/t rat, well she just wasn't having that at all. So I tried a live rat, wasn't too interested at first, but she finally decided that she would eat it, then her next meal was another live rat, that went much better and she took it down and ate it much better. It was feeding time last night, and I decided to get that rat out from the back of the freezer and thaw it. Then I thought ya know, maybe it should be a bit warmer then room temp, so I put it on my heater that I use to heat the room, snake and T's are in the same room, let it sit on there for 5-10 min till it felt warmer then room temp, and I gave it a go.

First she had more interest in me, then her meal, so I wiggled it around a bit and got her attention and she grabbed it up, I wiggled it a bit more and let her do her thing. Then once she was sure it was dead, she kinda played with it for 10-15 min, sniffing it and moving it around and sniffing it some more. Then I said to her "Stop playing with your food and eat it already" and with that she went for the head and ate it!

I was so excited, better for her eating a f/t rat, and now I don't have to worry about being able to make it to the pet store to get a live rat, I can stock the freezer and not have to worry about it.

After she ate that rat, she went into her pool, it's a Tupperware container, with a hole cut into the top, and she really likes it, but she had been in there ever since, it's been a couple days and I was starting to get worried, but today she came out and checked out her hide.

I know absolutely nothing about snakes, so it really interesting to read about your encounters,

They are pretty cool, I've always wanted one, but my mother never aloud me to have one. I was hoping to have Dan pick me up another one at the expo he went to today, but turns out it was a bust.

I think they are fascinating, but would be so worried about it escaping,
I dont think I would sleep, saying that I sleep in the room below 30 tarantulas
which is worse I ask myself???
think it is time to start swotting up Smile

Well when I went back into my room and I checked in on her, she was back in her pool, I got a look at her head, and she is going to shed again for me, eyes are all "fogged up"

LOL You'd never get a wink of sleep in my bedroom then. BP's are known to be escape artist, so I've put on 3 bungee cords to keep the lid on. Then I have probably 100 T's. I'll have to do a count and find out an exact number, one scorp, who I think is on his way out. Two cats, two dogs, two fish, a pacman frog, a toad two anoles, a parakeet, a ring neck dove, 3 indian ringneck parrots, and a baby gosling.

Well kinda, and that's not counting the numerous cockatiels, and parakeets, and other birds (Hence the user name).

I'm about to start getting myself ready, and I'm going to the LPS tonight to see if they have the BP I had by eye on the other day, but was hoping Dan could find me a cheaper one.

Well I went, and they didn't have the one I wanted, but they did have another one that was brighter colored then mine, and was so darn cute, I couldn't resist. So it came home with me, and I checked, and it just so happens to be a boy.
