| I have just bred my c.pentalore, the breed is very very similar to the c.fasciatum, in fact almost identical, which is what brought me to this forum in the first place anyway, I bred them, that was pretty simple, the first attempt the male and female just ignored each other, the second attempt was a true love story, the male courted her, it was a wonderful thing to watch, it was approx 3 weeks later that the female was acting all humpy, she webbed her house up, wasnt eating, it was only when I lifted her tank up that I could see she was clutching a sac, woohoo I said, my very first sac, now she has been clutching it for 3 weeks now, only coming out of her den for a drink, so my questions are..... do I leave her with the sac? if so how long for? do I take the sac? if so what next? how do I open the sac? what temp should the incubator be? I do have a incubator all set up ready, but to be honest I want to do this right and get some live offspring, sorry for all the questions, as I said I want to do this right, and of course not upset Missy. | |

| Well I'm no breeding expert, still waiting on my first sac. But you can leave the sac with mom, but once they hatch out, your gonna have a hard time wrangling them into vials. Also you'll want to make sure there are no holes in mom's enclosure that the slings can climb out of when they come out of the sac. But I think most people pull the sac VERY CAREFULLY around 30 days and VERY CAREFULLY open the sac and you should see eggs with legs and put them in the incubator. Temp I believe should still be 80ºF. Then it should be about another 2-3 weeks before they molt again.
Question for you: How do you tell the difference between C. pentalore and C. fasciatum?

| hmmmmm now that is the question, I bought them as a breeding pair, so I can only really go off the shop info but... the pentalore is from guatamala where as the fasciatum is from costa rica...
side by side they are almost identical
but I believe the c.fasciatum has browner legs than the c.pentalore, to be honest if you do a google search the images of both are identical I am not sure if they have had a species name change, or if they are the same breed just from different countries
there is very limited info on the pentalore

| I would be interested to find out if there is any difference in them... especially for breeding purposes | |

| sorry for the double post, but wanted to give you a quick update
it is now day 26, I think I am going to pull the eggsac this weekend, the only thing I am worried about is the mum,
she is still sitting on it, turning it, etc etc
does anyone know the effect on a T after you take her sac away??

| They get pissed off of course, but after awhile they will forget about it and move on. But if you wanted to, you could make a dummy sac, or after you take out the babies from her actual sac, you can fill it with cotton, stitch it back up and give it back to her and she will abandon it on her own. | |

| I'd suggest taking it. Unless you want to go hunting for tiny slings in her enclosure. | |

| Yes and everyone who does that, always has problems and isn't fun, specially if it's with an aggressive species. | |

| I completely agree. Hunting slings in momma's enclosure is no fun at all. | |
